Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. It was a pleasure to see many new faces on our opening day, as well as all the familiar ones coming back after a long and hopefully relaxing summer. Here are some announcements to remind you of some things:

1. Many returning students chose not to come on our opening day orientation. Just as a reminder, classes officially start Sept. 10 at 9:00 AM.

2. If you have not yet registered online and/or have not submitted your payment, come to the office on Sept. 10. Tuition (for the entire year) for one student is $470, two students is $905, and three students is $1245. Please pay by check, made payable to PVCS.

3. In celebration of our 35th Anniversary of Pomona Valley Chinese School, we will be having a celebration gala on Nov. 20 at the Jessie Turner Community Center banquet hall in North Fontana. Please clear your calendars for this day. We will have food and entertainment (all classes will perform) for everyone! Many alumni families are planning on attending. Come meet old and new friends!

4. In conjunction with our 35th Anniversary Gala, we will be having a talent show for our students. Auditions will be held late September/early October. Keep a watch out for further announcements.

5. There are many updates to the school website. Most importantly, many useful URLs have been shortened to make them easier to remember:

6. We are planning a "field trip" to Sedona, AZ on Dec. 26-28. Cost is $298/person for first two people, $238 for third person and above. Price is all inclusive. There is a limit of ~50 people due to the capacity of the tour bus; sign up early to reserve your seat! Contact Mr. Shangpin Baugh ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for more info. FYI Sedona AZ is one of the best places in the world to practice the ancient Chinese art of Qi-Gong.

7. Don't forget that for their safety we request that all students to wear uniforms. The office will have uniforms for sale this coming Saturday ($5.00 - $10.00), but we only have a limited size selection. You can also order uniforms (various colors, not just the classic Royal Blue!) online at http://pvcs.spreadshirt.com. All profits from uniform sales support operating costs of the school.

8. IMPORTANT: If you have a current CPR certification, please let me know ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) immediately! The Dept. of Education requires us to have someone with CPR training on campus whenever students are present.
